A greeting card for Autumn
Is this the best season of the year?
I am always ready for the next season to arrive, I love noticing the changes creep in slowly. The sun is lower, twinkling through the leaves. The mornings feel dewy and crisp, while the warmth of the day gives way to much cooler evenings. Basically, it’s hot water bottles and blankets all round, and an apple-spiced candle flickering on the mantelpiece. Heaven!
After a ridiculously hot summer, I’m very grateful for cool days and good jumpers.
Let’s ignore the windy, wet and endless rain days… I’ll just continue romanticising. Okay, thanks.
Although perhaps I just love making the most of the seasons and everything they have to offer. The autumn floral’s greeting card is a lovely little homage to the season, looking beautiful displayed in the home, in place of spent summer blooms.
Here are a few snippets from my sketchbook, I drew lots more autumnal arrangements before settling on the third one…
I didn’t want to shrink the drawing too much to fit on an A6 card, so I kept the full design and wrapped it around the back of the card for that extra special detail!
With the autumn equinox this week, it feels like the perfect time to embrace the season. Why not pop on a podcast (I recommend this one from Ffern), your favourite cosy music, or an episode of Gilmore Girls - obviously - and write to a friend.
